COVER DESIGN
The design is based on black and white collage, contrasted with red geometric elements and details, and plays with the album title ‘CLAIR-OBSCUR’. The central figure is made up of many elements (Persian and Corsican), which in combination create an atmosphere and a harmony that represents the work and history of A Filetta and Constantinople.
Some of these elements are: a background composition with overlapping skies in square and circular frames, interacting with each other and generating contrasts in terms of shapes and colours; natural elements from both Corsica and Iran at the top and bottom, such as mountains flanking the central piece; native fauna and flora like the birds; historical stamps; geometric representations of the maps of Corsica and Iran; a central band in which the colour of the sky and clouds is inverted, creating that ‘CLAIR-OBSCUR’ interplay; and finally, as the key element of the central piece, the figures of the 10 members of the project. Additional details are scattered throughout the composition, such as ‘CLAIR-OBSCUR’ overlaid on the piece and symbols inspired by Persian and Corsican history, simulating a kind of alphabets.
Below I am sharing some mockups to show how the image would work both on a physical CD and on digital platforms. There are several design options, differentiated mainly by the typography choices for the project.
